Early detection can mean the difference between having to file a major insurance claim and performing minor repairs.

How Magnetic Particle Testing Works

A liquid or powder solution composed of fluorescent and ferrous materials is sprayed on the magnetized section of pipe. The ferrous materials will be attracted into the cracks, and the fluorescence will show these cracks plainly under ultraviolet light.

The Benefits of Magnetic Particle Testing

Cracked and damaged pipes can have far-reaching consequences, not to mention liability concerns. Testing for damage can benefit your company in many ways:

  • Magnetic particle testing is a relatively fast process.
  • You will see immediate results.
  • It is cost effective, and cheaper than radiography.
  • This type of testing works in areas small or large.
  • It can detect problem areas before they become major issues.

Cleanup before and after the process is simple, and there are no lasting effects to the pipes from the solution. Ask one of our technicians if you have any questions about the process—we’re happy to explain anything.
